From the Cornish Studies Library:
WHAT'S ON? Don’t miss our ‘A Cornish Winter Wonderland’ exhibition at the Cornish Studies Library – during library opening hours – until the end of December. It features an array of snowy scenes, as well as documents related to pantomimes, nativity plays, and one of the earliest surviving mummers’ plays.
We are also pleased to host Trewirgie Junior School’s exhibition of work from their mining project at the Cornish Studies Library from January 14th – 25th, during library opening hours. The children have written letters inspired by archive material, and have also made models of engine houses and carried out art projects on the theme of Cornwall’s mining history.
We recently launched an art competition, in association with ‘My Cornwall’ magazine, for children across the county. Running from October 2013 until February 14th 2014, children can design an A4 picture depicting what Cornwall means to them, using a medium of their choice. Winning entries will be published in ‘My Cornwall’ magazine, and winners will also take home art materials and family tickets to local attractions. All the entries will also be displayed at the Cornish Studies Library between March 1st (when prizes will be awarded) and March 15th 2014. For more information, or to pick up a leaflet outlining all the terms and conditions, contact the Cornish Studies Library on 01209 216760, or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
