From The Cornishman:
St Ives to hold first St Piran's parade of 2014
St Ives has this year decided to celebrate St Piran’s Day with a twist - it will be the first St Piran’s Day of 2014!
St Ives Town Council has voted to hold its celebration of Cornwall’s patron saint on March 1 instead of the traditional March 5. The switch is intended to allow school children and 9-5 workers to attend an event that is usually closed to them when it falls on a week day.
The St Ives St Piran’s Parade will start at 2pm, Saturday March 1, from the Guildhall. Anyone wishing to join the parade should wear black and white bring a flag of St Piran if they have one. St Ives Town Council are keen to hear from people and groups who want to take part in advance. They are also appealing for anyone with marshalling experience who would be prepared to help on the day.
