Guldize 2014 facebook site for the latest
The annual harvest festival of the Cornish people returns to Penzance in 2014. Please meet at the Yacht Inn for a short procession where the neck will be paraded by a specially chosen guest. At around 8:00pm we will arrive at the Admiral Benbow for our annual harvest feast. ALL WELCOME
The guest chosen to carry the neck will be selected on the night and will receive a large glass of spirits as a reward as is the tradition.
Gentleman and Ladies may dress how they please but please note that it is has become traditional for some of us to dress in an agricultural or country style (I have a real beauty costume this year) decorated with seasonal leaves and berries (Oranges and Reds).
There will be an auction of large and amusing vegetables and other produce, food, drink, harvest song and dance. Prior to this event we will be performing a crying of the neck ceremony by the method described by AK Hamilton Jenkin (Not the usual Old Cornwall ceremony) a great deal more dramatic. Notice will be posted here. Please bring items for the auction
Please bring musical instruments, dance shoes etc. THE MORE THE MERRIER. All welcome please bring friends!!!
