From the Cornish Language Partnership:
So how many people speak Cornish? How many times have all of us been asked that question?
With no census question and no other method of recording usage of the language, we are all groping in the dark for answers. Five years ago, MAGA conducted a survey which, although not comprehensive, gave us some very useful information.
Five years on, we feel it is time to repeat the exercise and therefore we are launching a short survey. Aimed at reaching as many people as possible, the survey hopes to find out how many people know some Cornish, from using just a few words up to and including full fluency. The survey is simple, short and asks only the basic questions. We would like to reach all of the users of Cornish that we can, so please forward this link to everyone you can think of who knows a little Cornish. We will be promoting it through language groups, social media and in other ways. A paper version is available for those who do not have computer access.
You may receive this several times through different means, but we ask that you only fill it in once so that we can ensure we have accurate figures – without a good baseline, it is very difficult to measure progress. The survey should take no more than five minutes to complete, and we ask that replies reach us by 22nd November 2013. Please follow this link
