For the first time ever. The Cornish Culture Association presents its very own Allantide celebration.
Friday, October 31at 8:00pm
The Pirate Inn, Alverton Road, TR18 4PS, Penzance
Allantide is the Cornish version of Halloween. During the evening we will be celebrating the unique customs associated with the time of year. These include:
1) The giving of Allan apples
2) The family table
3) The tindle bonfire
4) The apple cross game and much more.
Please dress in "Guise costume" without mask (Allantide marks the start of the Cornish Culture Association Guise Season which will include Montol and Candlemass) and bring with you a memento of a loved one (human or animal) who has passed away for the family table (as you arrive you will place the memento on the family table)
Please bring stories, musical instruments and other forms of entertainment. During the evening a bonfire will be lit and chestnuts thrown in to the fire as is the tradition (traditionally to bring good luck and mark the end of summer).
The raffle at this event will be conducted by the famous "physic raffle" method
